The Pampa EDC offers business counseling at no charge for new startups, established businesses and those just considering starting a business. Pampa EDC contracts with Mr. Spencer McElhannon of Leading EDG to provide this service. Spencer has been an owner and an operator of businesses for over 30 years. There are no set number of visits and no cost to the client.
Spencer is in Pampa each Wednesday to meet with clients. He is glad to schedule meetings at the client’s convenience. Typically, computer models are used to put together a business plan for potential startup businesses. Projections of sales and expenses can be plugged into his financial models helping the client to decide whether or not starting or buying a business makes sense.
Spencer has met with approximately 200 people in Pampa over the last five years. Ten to twenty percent of those people have started, purchased or sold a business. McElhannon continues to have a relationship with those who have a business helping them to reach “the next level” in their venture. Even if a client’s efforts do not result in a business initially, their relationship with Spencer does not have to end as they may choose to continue looking until they find the business idea that fits them and their situation.
There are times when credit issues stand in the way of a client starting a business but frequently Spencer can be of help by guiding them in strategies to enhance their credit. There are multiple aspects to the business counseling that Mr. McElhannon offers. Spencer’s expertise has benefited numerous businesses whose issues include cash flow, sales and managerial problems.
The Pampa EDC encourages anyone interested in starting a business or improving their existing business to take advantage of Spencer’s services. Again, these services are available at no cost to the client.
