The Pampa Economic Development Corporation is a Type B corporation that receives over $1 million annually from a half-cent sales tax. Chapters 501 – 505, Local Government Code is the section of Texas law that contains the rules governing the use of the economic development sales tax.
The Pampa EDC strives to provide incentives for eligible business/industrial development and community development projects. Our goals include helping with the retention and expansion of local businesses, entrepreneurial startup funding and recruiting of outside companies. In addition, community development projects are permissible under the statute allowing the Pampa EDC to provide funding on eligible projects as determined by our board.
The Pampa EDC Board of Directors will consider providing incentives to eligible projects on a case by case basis. All projects require a public notice and public hearing. All projects over $10,000 require two votes of approval by the Pampa City Commission.
The Gray County Commissioners Court will consider property tax abatement for eligible projects on a case by case basis. Tax abatements may only be granted within reinvestment zones.
The Governors Office of Economic Development and Tourism (Texas) offers a variety of Incentive programs that companies may apply for. The Pampa EDC will be glad to provide assistance and contact information for any company interested in applying for state incentives.
The Pampa EDC is committed to working with our local and area citizens to help grow our economy and provide a better quality of life for people who live here and for those that choose to visit us. Incentives can play a major role in being an impetus for new development and improvements that benefit the community. We invite anyone who is considering a project to meet with us. There is no charge or obligation.
